Dubai: Driver caught on camera with a child on lap; vehicle seized
According to UAE Federal Traffic Law, front-seat passengers must be at least 145cm tall and over the age of 10

A serious traffic violation was recorded by Dubai Police's smart detection system as a man was seen with a child on his lap while driving, putting his life and the child's life at risk.
According to the UAE’s Federal Traffic Law, children under the age of 10 and shorter than 145cm are strictly prohibited from occupying the front seat of a vehicle.

Violating this regulation not only endangers the child's safety but also attracts legal consequences. The police have seized the car and emphasised that such reckless behaviour significantly increases the risk of severe injuries in the event of an accident.

Drivning a vehicle in a manner that endangers the motorist's life or the lives of others or their safety and security is punishable by a fine of Dh2,000 plus 23 black points and impounding the vehicle for a period of 60 days.
