A Dh500 fine will be slapped against anyone found dumping waste from balconies in Sharjah, the emirate's civic body has warned.
Mohammed Ali Al Kaabi, head of the city cleanliness control section, Sharjah Municipality, said the move is meant to "protect the scenic image of the city in a sustainable way".
Some "reckless people" turn a blind eye to rules and regulations. The civic body has received several complaints from residents about their neighbours "carelessly dumping waste" from balconies in high-rise buildings.

The municipality has urged landlords to put up posters and signs in their buildings to warn against this illegal practice.
