Dubai Public Prosecution is investigating a case involving the loss of Dh4.45 million after a man was attacked inside a parking facility in Dubai. Authorities eventually arrested two suspects and recovered the full amount.

According to case records, authorities received a report of a robbery at a parking building in Baniyas–Al Rigga area. Officers met the victim at the scene, where he explained that the incident occurred shortly after he had placed a large sum of cash inside his vehicle, which was parked at the facility.

Investigations showed that the victim had earlier received a phone call from an acquaintance requesting him to collect Dh4.25 million from an office in a tower building, linked to a commercial gold transaction. The victim went to the location accompanied by a friend and received the amount. Later, an additional sum of approximately Dh200,000 was added, bringing the total to Dh4.45 million, before they proceeded to the parking area in Al Rigga.

While seated inside his car, the victim was approached by three individuals who entered the vehicle unexpectedly. One person positioned himself near the driver’s door, while two others sat in the back seat. During the brief encounter, the victim was restrained and prevented from leaving the vehicle, allowing the suspects to take possession of the bags containing the money.

The victim was later able to exit the car and immediately alerted security personnel at the parking building, who contacted the police. Officers arrived shortly afterwards, secured the area, and began collecting statements and reviewing surveillance footage.

Through CCTV analysis and field inquiries, investigators identified the vehicle believed to have been used in the incident — a white Lexus registered in Dubai. One suspect was apprehended shortly afterwards at the same location.

Further investigations led authorities to identify a second suspect residing in a neighbouring emirate. After obtaining the required legal approvals, officers carried out a search at the suspect’s residence, where they recovered the entire amount of Dh4.45 million, which had been concealed inside a false ceiling within the home.

During questioning, both suspects admitted to monitoring the victim’s movements and coordinating their actions in advance. They stated that the plan involved taking the money and sharing it equally, but the arrests took place before any division of the funds occurred.

Dubai Public Prosecution confirmed that the suspects have been referred to the competent court and face trial on charges related to robbery, restraint, and impersonation, stressing that such cases are handled in accordance with the law.

Authorities reminded the public to take precautions when transporting large sums of money and to report incidents promptly.
