A delivery guy in Sharjah had filed a case against a female customer who allegedly refused to pay her bill of Dh200 and robbed him at knifepoint, with the help of other women. The woman, who is in her 20s, faced the charges in court in a recent hearing.
The complainant told the court that when he arrived at the defendant's flat to deliver the food she ordered, a woman stepped out, took the food and went back inside.
He waited for her by the door, thinking she was just getting some money. After a while, he decided to ring the doorbell again - but he was shocked when a group of women opened the door, dragged him into the flat, turned off the lights, and threatened him with a knife, the complainant said.
The women allegedly assaulted him and stole his phone, along with his cash amounting to Dh800.
When he managed to escape, he said he immediately lodged a complaint at the Sharjah Police and gave them the phone number of the customer.
The authorities then arrested the defendant, who confessed to the crime. She said she returned the phone to the man and claimed that the food was ordered by the other women who lived in the flat.
The defendant also vowed to return the money that was stolen.
The trial was adjourned to May 20.
