Two men are said to be in a serious condition while several others were injured when a bus carrying 38 Indian workers collided with a cement truck in Sharjah on Tuesday.

The bus was loaded with the workers of a contracting company. The other injured men are being treated for moderate to minor injuries.

Major Abdulrahaman Khater, Director of Sharjah Traffic Police’s awareness section, said the accident happened when the truck, driven by an Indian, was going towards Al Ittihad Road from Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Street.

The bus, coming from the industrial area of Ajman, was also heading that way.

The two vehicles collided due to the truck driver’s reported inattentiveness. The truck hit the bus from the right, causing it to turn turtle several times.

The injured workers were rushed to Al Qasimi, Kuwaiti, Khalifa and Umm Al Quwain hospitals in Ajman.

Police said motorists should drive carefully, keep their seat belts on and keep to the limit.
