The accused, identified as M.L., 31, told the police that he got the Swedish passport with a forged exit visa from his relative after he paid him Dh30,000.
An Arab businessman who forged the exit seal of the Naturalisation and Residency Department and stamped it on a Swedish passport, was on Wednesday sentenced to one year in jail. The accused committed the forgery on a passport that did not belong to him to try and enter Sweden to see his wife.
The Dubai Criminal Court also ordered his deportation after serving his jail term. The forgery came to light in October last year.
The accused, identified as M.L., 31, told the police that he got the Swedish passport with a forged exit visa from his relative after he paid him Dh30,000 to visit his sick wife in Sweden.
He said he is not allowed to enter Sweden with his own passport due to an ongoing war in his home country.
