When he returned, he found his daughter lying motionless. He called for an ambulance, but paramedics confirmed that the girl had died. They noticed clear marks of strangulation on her neck.
The father, who had called his parents to Dubai on a visit visa, said he suspected his mother, as they had argued before about how to take care of the child.
Dubai Police sent patrols, criminal investigation officers, and forensic experts to the scene. After interrogation, the authorities established the grandmother, identified as N.K.S., as the last person who had seen the girl alive.
The grandmother admitted to the crime. She said she was tired of the child’s illness and wanted to relieve her son and daughter-in-law from the burden of care.
The family had planned to take the girl to India for treatment.
The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing their investigation to prepare the case for trial.
The case has shocked the community and raised concerns about the pressure families face when caring for children with special needs.
