60 tons of fireworks seized in Sharjah; dealers identified and arrested

The police warn of buying contraband fireworks and using them as they pose a threat to public safety

Sixty tons of contraband fireworks have been seized in Sharjah ahead of Eid Al Fitr, following a meticulous investigations and surveillance by Sharjah Police.

The fireworks were seized as part of the police's efforts to keep residents safe and combat harmful practices, especially during holidays and festivals.

Brigadier Ibrahim Musbeh Al-Ajal, Director General of the Comprehensive Police Stations Department, said that after comprehensive monitoring, the police identified dealers who were planning to sell the fireworks illegally.

Threat to public safety

The brigadier emphasised that the illegal sale and indiscriminate use of fireworks poses a direct threat to public safety. Fireworks, when used without safety measures in place, can cause injuries, accidents and property damage.

Sharjah Police called on the public to stick to the laws and regulations surrounding the sale and use of fireworks. Parents have particularly been asked to teach their children about the potential dangers of fireworks.
