British expatriate and personal fitness trainer Leon Douglas, 35, has launched a fitness mobile application for school kids to stay healthy amid the pandemic.
A UAE resident for eight years now, his app Yummy4Kids is an interactive board game that give kids information on the importance of eating right and exercising regularly.
“As part of my work, I was travelling to a lot of schools and meeting children. Though the seminars helped, I wanted the kids to take that knowledge closer to home and decided to create the application,” Douglas told Khaleej Times.
The app is designed like a board game and, as they progress in it, a voice prompt instructs kids.
The app has three diverse characters and each of the cartoons interact with the kids. For example, “Once they reach a certain level in the game, the app informs them about the importance of a balanced meal and the risk of diabetes etc.”
Douglas said the app aims to inform children about the importance of having a healthy lifestyle and good life skills.
