Coronavirus in UAE: How Dubai is making Metro, buses, taxis safe for residents

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has called on residents to not use public transport unless necessary. The authority advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance to avoid peak hours, "as delays are expected" due to new measures it has taken to fight the spread of Covid-19.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with the supervisors deployed at bus and metro stations or on board the transport modes. They have also been urged to use personal protective equipment while moving around in public areas. The authority has announced multiple preventive measures to protect the health of public transport riders.
Dubai Metro
> Number of riders has been limited so that they maintain a safe distance from one another.
> Number of journeys and service frequency have been increased.
Buses
> All bus shelters have been closed temporarily.
> Number of riders has been limited.
> Only the front/middle doors will be opened; the rear door will remain shut
Taxi
> Number of riders has been limited to two per taxi in the rear seat.
The RTA said: "The objective of these measures is to ensure healthy and safe transit services at the highest global standards and enforce social distancing among passengers."
