UAE offers condolences to Indonesia over Sumatra flood victims

The death toll from floods and landslides following cyclonic rains in the Indonesian island rose to 303 on Saturday

The United Arab Emirates has expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with Indonesia over the victims of the floods and landslides that occurred on the island of Sumatra, which resulted in the death of dozens of people and the displacement of thousands.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that the UAE expresses its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims, the Indonesian government, and the friendly people of Indonesia in this tragic event.

The death toll from floods and landslides following cyclonic rains in the Indonesian island of Sumatra has risen to 303, the head of the country's disaster mitigation agency said on Saturday, up from the last figure of 174 dead.

Rescuers in Indonesia were struggling to reach the worst-affected areas of Sumatra island, where more than 100 people were still missing.
