The nations consider this 'a blatant and unacceptable violation of international law and a flagrant breach of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions'
The United Arab Emirates, with 8 other nations, strongly condemn the "Israeli Knesset’s approval of the declaration calling for the imposition of so-called 'Israeli sovereignty' over the occupied West Bank", in a statement on Thursday.
The statement is issued in conjunction with the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Indonesia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
According to the statement, the nations consider this "a blatant and unacceptable violation of international law and a flagrant breach of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions".
All of which affirm the nullity of any measures or decisions aimed at legitimising the occupation, including settlement activities in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
In the statement, the aforementioned parties "reaffirm that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, and they emphasise that this unilateral Israeli move has no legal effect and cannot alter the legal status of the occupied Palestinian land, especially East Jerusalem, which remains an integral part of that land."
They further stress that such Israeli actions will only "exacerbate the escalating tensions in the region, which have already worsened due to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe".
They also reaffirm their commitment to the two-state solution, based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, and to the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
