An anonymous philanthropist donated Dh2 million to provide 250,000 meals to the UAE's biggest distribution drive that aims to support families and individuals affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
The '10 million meals' campaign, launched on Sunday, enables individuals and institutions to donate towards providing meals and food parcels to low-income individuals and families across the country throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
The philanthropist, who requested to stay anonymous, said, "The UAE has provided us with the opportunity to lead stable, prosperous and happy lives. Now is the time to return the favor to this beautiful country that has always welcomed everybody. We must stand together to support the vulnerable who are most affected by the coronavirus spread that has interrupted our daily routine."
The philanthropist added, "Supporting the '10 million meals' campaign is the best way to help people in these difficult times and emphasize our social solidarity regardless of color, ethnicity or race. The UAE demonstrates an example of tolerance through bringing together people from all over the world to live in unity, peace and prosperity and help each other in times of need."
The '10 million meals' campaign enables entities, companies, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, as well as the general public to make financial or in-kind contributions. Donors can purchase meals online or donate packaged and canned food supplies to be distributed to disadvantaged families and individuals from different nationalities living across the UAE.
