Careem increases some fares in Dubai

Dubai - The new fares will come into effect later today.

Days after ride-hailing service Uber increased some fares, Careem has followed suit. The new fares for Careem Economy will see some fares "slightly lower than before" and "some slightly higher" based on time of the day, Careem announced on Monday.
"For Careem Kids users, our pricing is reduced with the introduction of a surcharge, but more affordable overall fare," the ride-hailing app said in a statement.
The new fares will come into effect later today (Monday). "They will be reflected in the fare estimate as well as in the detailed receipt that you receive at the end of your ride," the statement added.
Fares for the GO Beta and Business ride options "will not be affected by these price changes".
According to the pricing table released by Careem, for the Economy option, the minimum fare has increased from Dh15 to Dh16.5. The moving fare/km goes up from Dh2.24 to Dh2.38, while the waiting fare has decreased from Dh58.4/hour to Dh51.5/hour. The new starting fare will vary from Dh5.4 to Dh6.7 to Dh10.6, depending on the time of the day, excluding the booking fee. Previously, the starting fare was Dh8.
