Burj Dubai is now Burj Khalifa

Burj Dubai will now be known as the Burj Khalifa.

In what would probably rank as the best kept secret in the UAE, the 828-meter Burj Khalifa, known for several years preceding its inauguration as the Burj Dubai was unveiled at a glittering ceremony by Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai this evening.

The 160-storey building built at an estimated cost of $1.5 billion attracted hundreds and thousands of onlookers for the spectacular inauguration ceremony that combined a dazzling sound and light show. Since it was announced in 2003, the Burj Khalifa rose from the ground-up at a breathtaking pace shattering all known records to become the tallest manmade structure of its kind.
