DUBAI - Police are investigating the death of a British woman whose body was found in a pool of blood in her apartment in Bur Dubai. The circumstances point to murder.
A police official said the 50-year-old woman, Marie, was perhaps killed on Sunday. However, the Dubai Police was informed only on Thursday.
Officials from Rafaa Police Station rushed to the crime scene to find the victim with multiple stab wounds. The body was sent to forensics and the presumed murder weapon recovered.
The victim, a divorcee, worked as a training manager at a hotel. Investigations reveal her ex-husband is Arab. Also, her nexus with a 28-year-old Syrian, believed to have returned to his home country, has come to light.
The police have arrested a 24-year-old compatriot of the Syrian, from whose possession jewellery belonging to the victim and Dh7,500 was recovered, though he denies any involvement in the murder.
The police believe the motive behind the crime could be theft, as things and belongings in the room were scattered all over.
