‘Beach Sex Couple’ to be Deported
DUBAI - A three-member bench in the Dubai Court of Appeals on Tuesday suspended the three-month jail term of the British 'beach sex couple' Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors.

While dismissing the appeal of the Public Prosecution for harsher sentence, the bench, however, upheld the lower court's decision to deport them after imposing a fine.
Both Palmer and Acors were not present in the court when presiding Judge Abdelaziz Hafez pronounced the verdict in the presence of a battery of reporters from the local as well as international media organisations.

A Public Prosecution source told Khaleej Times that the duo would be deported soon after the court formalities are completed.
The couple were convicted by the Court of Misdemeanour on October 16.
Palmer, 37, former media executive, and Acors, 34, visitor, were sentenced to three months in jail and imposed a fine of Dh1,000 each, followed by deportation for having illicit sex, public indecency and consumption of liquor.
Palmer and Acors were arrested on July 5. However, they remained on bail throughout the trial.
The couple had all along pleaded not guilty to the charges of illicit sex and indecency in public place.
However, they did plead guilty to consuming liquor.
The bench included Hafez, Judge in the Court of Cassation, Mahmoud Mohammed Al Sharshaby, Judge in the Appellate Court, and Ibrahim Abdel Khaleq, Judge in the Court of First Instance.
