Bangladeshi office clerk wins $1 million in latest Dubai Duty free draw

A resident of Manama, Bahrain for the past 10 years, AK Monirul Islam has been participating in the Dubai Duty Free promotion for three years

A Bangladeshi expat living in Bahrain has become the latest millionaire after winning in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw held on Wednesday at Dubai Duty Free headquarters.

AK Monirul Islam, a 52-year-old Bangladeshi national based in Manama, Bahrain, won $1 million in Millennium Millionaire Series 539 with ticket number 4257, which he purchased online on March 18.

A resident of Manama for the past 10 years, he has been participating in the Dubai Duty Free promotion for three years. He works as an office clerk at the Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain and is a father of three.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much Dubai Duty Free. Now, I can build my own house for my family in Bangladesh,” he said. He is the third Bangladeshi national to win $1 million in the Millennium Millionaire promotion since its launch in 1999.

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, the Finest Surprise draw for a luxury motorbike was also held.

A Pakistani national based in Sialkot, Pakistan, won an Aprilia RSV4 1100 (Black Yellow) motorbike with ticket number 0882 in Finest Surprise Series 661, which was purchased online on March 9.

A first-time ticket buyer, he works as a designer for a private company and is a father of five.

“I can’t believe I won with my first ticket in your promotion. Thank you Dubai Duty Free!” he said.
