ArtParis provides a peek into modern works of art
ABU DHABI - “Modern art definitely has a place in Abu Dhabi,” Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, told Khaleej Times during the private VIP viewing of ArtParis exhibition here.

The exhibition officially opened yesterday. The viewing took place on Monday evening and the guest of honour was General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces. Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, general manager of ADACH, and other local personalities, ambassadors and artists were also present.
Shaikh Mohammed visited all 47 galleries, including the ADACH pavilion, picking up several catalogues and speaking with the gallery owners, most of whom came from France.

Shaikh Sultan said he really enjoyed the paintings, drawings and sculptures on display. “I did manage to have a good look at the exhibition even though I had seen all pieces during the selection process,” he said. “I cannot say which one I liked the most. They are all wonderful,” he added.
Patrice Paoli, French Ambassador to the UAE, who accompanied Shaikh Mohammed during his visit to the French galleries, was very impressed with the exhibition.
“The French galleries are absolutely amazing. There is Chagall, Picasso and so many great artists. I'm not just saying this because I'm French. It's really well done,” he told Khaleej Times.
For the public, ArtParis officially opened on Tuesday at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi and it would continue till November 29 from 4pm to 9 pm.There will be a lecture by Pascal Odille, a registered French expert of post-war art and professor at the Ecole d'Art et de Communication in France and Sorbonne University in Abu-Dhabi, on “The Art Market – How to invest in art” from 6pm today.
