During his journey, Victor Mooney met with locals, farmers, workers as well as museum and tourism officials and suffered a flat tyre.

Mooney intends to row from the West African state of Senegal to the Brooklyn Bridge in his native New York in a boat called the 'Spirit of Zayed', named after late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

This will be Mooney's second attempt at the seafaring challenge as he had to be rescued by the Senegalese navy when a leak in the boat scuppered his previous effort. Mooney is currently trying to raise $100,000 for the 'Spirit of Zayed' before December when he plans to set sail across the Atlantic Ocean.
