Ajman Police banned heavy vehicles from using Shaikh Ammar bin Hummaid Road effective today (July 21, 2015) to ensure road safety and prevent accidents.
Col Ali Humaid Al Musaibi, director of traffic and patrol section at Ajman Police, said that the police has taken this decision based on the recommendation of a traffic committee that comprised representatives from the municipality and police.
He added that the ban aimed at ensuring traffic safety and preventing traffic jams. Studies show that the existence of heavy trucks affected the movement of traffic and it was the reason behind the number of fatal accidents on that road which links Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road and extends passing by Shaikh Zayed road to meet with Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid road in Al Jarf area.
He explained the police and municipality have established alternative roads for heavy vehicles. These alternative roads include Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan street, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid street and Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed road.
