Less than a year after Thumbay University Hospital's opening, as many as 1,000 babies had been delivered at the facility under its centre for obstetrics and gynaecology. A special ceremony to mark the milestone was recently held at the hospital.
Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vice-president of Thumbay Group's healthcare division, said the birth of over 1,000 babies at the hospital in such a short period of time reflects the quality of services provided at the facility.
"Less than a year after the hospital opened its door to the communities, it has evolved into a family-friendly healthcare destination. We are proud of this achievement. The hospital has developed a patient-centric healthcare model that takes into consideration the emotional and cultural needs of a patient, in addition to his/her medical needs," he said.
The hospital's obstetricians, gynaecologists, paediatricians and neonatologists have successfully handled several high-risk pregnancy cases and complicated cases of premature deliveries, among others. Of the total number of babies delivered, approximately 49 per cent were girls and 51 per cent were boys.
"In the past year, Thumbay University Hospital has enjoyed the pleasure of celebrating with countless families as they welcomed new members. Our Centre for Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides modern preventive and curative specialised obstetric care of international standards in a world-class setup, through its highly experienced obstetric team," said Dr Manvir Singh Walia.
Opened in October last year, the hospital is the region's largest private academic hospital with 350 beds. It is located at Thumbay Medicity in Al Jurf, Ajman.
Its growing popularity has been anchored on its world-class facilities, combined with the expertise of some of the best doctors in the region.
The hospital has a dedicated floor for mother and child care, including 10 labour and delivery rooms, NICU, SCBU and a Well-Baby Unit.
Being a tertiary care university hospital, it handles all types of high-risk pregnancies on a daily basis. Starting from pre-conception consultation and screening, the Centre for Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides appropriate advice and support to women throughout every stage of pregnancy and delivery.
