An Arab mother gave birth to a set of quadruplets - three girls and a boy - at Khalifa Hospital. The mother and her kids are in good health.
The woman delivered the babies - weighing between 1,300 and 1,500 grams - through a successful caesarean section, said Dr Rijeka Bornheide, a specialist surgeon and consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist.
She added that the newborns will stay in the hospital for a few weeks. The delivery took place in the woman's 31st week of gestation, she pointed out.
Dr Bornheide underlined that the hospital deals with twin deliveries as high-risk condition, due to the complications during childbirth, including premature birth, early placental separation and raised blood sugar.
She stressed that the mother and the newborns did not suffer any health problems or complications during childbirth, due to the expertise and professionalism of the medical team.
