A total of eight people, including five children, were rescued by the Ajman Civil Defence after a fire erupted in their apartment at Al Nuaimia area in Ajman.
Brig Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, director-general of the Ajman Civil Defence Directorate-General, said the blaze broke out in the third floor of the apartment. "The five-story building where the apartment was reported was immediately evacuated and the entire area was cordoned off. Water and foam were used in putting out the flames."
Brig Al Shamsi advised all residents to observe due safety procedures at home. "Regular maintenance is necessary to fix any possible gas leak as well as worn or torn our parts."

He also urged the installation of smoke detectors, fire alarms, and more importantly the development of public awareness on the right way to handle such repetitive blazes.
