Earlier, UAE announced that all government employees would get four days off from March 19 to March 22. Private sector employees will get three days of Eid break, from Thursday to Saturday. Employees who normally work on Sundays will be required to return to work on Sunday, March 22.
The exact dates of Eid Al Fitr 2026 will be determined by the moon sighting that marks the end of the month of Ramadan and the beginning of the next month of the Islamic calendar — Shawwal.
The UAE's moon-sighting committee is set to meet on March 18, the 29th day of Ramadan, to look for the crescent that marks the start of Shawwal. If the moon is sighted, the first day of Eid Al Fitr will be on Thursday, March 19. If it is not, March 20 will mark the beginning of Eid.
