A comprehensive strategy for people of determination has been launched in Abu Dhabi, the Capital's media office announced on Saturday. The strategy aims to "create an inclusive and enabling community" for people of determination under an "integrated system that provides high-quality services".

The UAE refers to people with special needs or disabilities as 'people of determination' in recognition of their achievements in different fields.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, took to Twitter to hail the launch of the strategy. He said it "re-affirms our commitment to inclusion, equality and empowerment for all members of UAE society". It "upholds everyone's right to participate fully and with dignity in our community", he added.
The five-year strategy (2020 to 2024) will see over 30 initiatives. It defines eight priority fields: Health and social care; education and learning support; employment opportunities; inclusive and prepared communities; streamlined governance; quality services; data, research and innovation; and sustainable financing.
Six dedicated teams from multiple entities will deliver the strategy, a video tweeted by the media office said.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council (Adec), said the strategy is an "essential step towards further integration and empowerment of this vital community group". It will "unleash their full potential as key players in our nation's development and future achievements", the media office quoted him as saying.
