The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be used to research sustainability initiatives.
Etihad's inaugural eco flight 'Greenliner', which features a special livery, landed at Abu Dhabi airport on Thursday morning.
The flight landed at 8:21am today morning, according to a flightradar24 report.
The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, nicknamed the Greenliner, will be used to research sustainability initiatives while in service on regular route.
As the 787 #Greenliner descends toward Abu Dhabi, pilots are employing a more efficient continuous descent profile, rather than the standard step-down method where an aircraft is cleared to a lower altitude then cleared to descend again. https://t.co/4XnOrkzBiC pic.twitter.com/Q1dOpYgktr- Flightradar24 (@flightradar24) January 23, 2020
The flight will also explore three efficiency projects in conjunction with Boeing engineers to examine their impact on fuel consumption.
As part of the partnership between Etihad and Boeing, findings from these projects will be shared with all 787 operators to improve the efficiency of the entire fleet, the report added.
