Monthly alimony and child expenses will be calculated digitally as Abu Dhabi authorities are rolling out a new system to standardise the mechanism for estimating expenses.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) said on Sunday that it has launched an electronic service which allows expense calculation in personal status claims. The service computes the alimony to be paid to the divorced wife according to the guide manual adopted last March, with the aim of providing a unified smart mechanism for estimating expenses in order to strike a balance between the beneficiaries and those who are obliged to spend.
Yousef Saeed Al Ebri, undersecretary of the ADJD, said the launch of the legal calculator for expenses came in line with the activation of the personal status claims policy adopted by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the ADJD, to developing the judicial system that achieves family peace with its social impact, and reduces the rivalries between the parties.
"The new service would support the judicial work with a standard mechanism for estimating expenses, and automating the outputs of the guide manual, by calculating the minimum, maximum and average marital expenses and the alimony of children, housing and domestic service allowances, once entering the data on the income of the spender and the numbers of children are entered," said Al Ebri.
"The electronic expense calculation is a guarantee for unifying and neutral evaluation, and it sets an objective automated indicator for the average alimony and its variants, including starting from the family guidance stage, In addition to the proposed minimum and maximum in the light of objective inputs of the income of the spender and the number of children, allowing the parties to end their dispute amicably from the outset," he added.
He noted that the guide manual regulates the mechanism for estimating basic alimony, accommodation, domestic service allowance and school expenses through an indicative schedules according to the income of the spender, thus balancing the guarantee of the livelihood of the beneficiaries and the non-depletion of the source of living of the person obliged to spend, as well as the mechanism for the consideration of custody and vision disputes, orders on petitions, procedures for the implementation of sentences, decisions issued in personal cases.
The guide manual also regulates family guidance procedures and disputes of alimony, housing, children vision, domestic service, agreements and reconciliation, procedures of case preparation and the required documents for consideration and speeding up the adjudication in cases, and travel ban in cases of alimony and wages, either during the hearing consideration or in the implementation of the judgment.
