Covid 19: PCR test needed 6 days after entering Abu Dhabi

New Covid-19 rules for entering the emirate were brought into effect from Saturday.

Visitors and residents entering Abu Dhabi and staying in the capital for six consecutive days or more, will have to take a PCR test on the sixth day of their stay, besides providing a negative PCR or DPI test result at entry point.
New Covid-19 rules for entering the emirate were brought into effect from Saturday, in line with efforts to expand testing for the early detection of the contagion, Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee tweeted on Friday.

The updated rules, henceforth, require either a negative PCR or DPI test result from the previous 48 hours as well as a mandatory PCR test on the sixth consecutive day of stay in the emirate. Earlier ,DPI test results were not considered without the PCR test.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office said: "Residents and visitors who stay for six consecutive days or more within Abu Dhabi emirate must now take a PCR test on the sixth day of each visit, in order to protect the health and safety of the community."

Stating why the PCR test is required on the sixth day, Abu Dhabi Media Office said in the tweet: 'According to scientific studies, the probability of detecting the virus is high halfway through the incubation period of an infected person. This measure aims at early detecting of cases in their preliminary stages and preventing the spread of infection among members of the community'.
