The Abu Dhabi Police on Wednesday announced a 50 per cent discount on all traffic fines registered before December 22, provided the fines are paid off within three months. (No discount on these violations)
"All black points and vehicle impoundments due before the same date will also be cancelled," according to Major General Fares Khalaf Al Mazroui, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police.

"The kind gesture, directed by the UAE prudent leadership, is meant to curb traffic violations, decrease people's financial burdens, and encourage drivers to stick to traffic rules," he said.
"Erring drivers, as per another initiative also announced on Wednesday, will enjoy a 35 per cent discount on all their traffic fines once they make payment within 60 days, starting from the date of the violation registration," he explained.
"The 35 per cent discount includes the traffic fine, late payment fine, and vehicle impoundment, if any."
"Drivers, as per the 'Early Payment' scheme to take effect from December 22, still can avail 25 per cent discount if they make payment after 60 days," he added.
"This 25 per cent discount shall remain applicable for one full year, yet with no discount on late payment fine or vehicle impoundment, if any," he pointed out.

Paying out traffic fines after one year of having them registered on a driver's traffic file means no discount at all, Maj-Gen Al Mazroui underlined.

"The new scheme is applicable to all traffic violations except those categorized as 'dangerous'."

"The fines or penalties ruled out by the traffic prosecution or court are excluded as well," he stressed.

"All drivers are urged all drivers to strictly observe traffic rules and violations, and avail the discount and early payment scheme."
