Abu Dhabi Police issue advisory, urge residents to avoid spreading rumours

Abu Dhabi Police has called on the public to only consume information from reliable media sources in an advisory posted on Friday, April 12.
The authority has asked the general public to avoid spreading rumours and fake information, urging them to disseminate information "in line with the values of positive citizenship and community responsibility".
It added that the role of community members is very important when it comes to addressing misleading information.

The authority has asked residents to verify information before circulating news on social media platforms and ensure the safety of everyone.
One could be fined up to Dh500,000 and imprisoned for up to 5 years for publishing information, news, visual materials or rumours online with the intention of ridiculing or harming the reputation, prestige or status of the country.
