A young Emirati boy, suffering from severe health conditions, finally had one of his biggest dreams come true, all thanks to the Abu Dhabi Police.
14-year-old Issa Abdul Jalil Bokhalaf, who is being treated for critical medical conditions at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), became the "Captain pilot" for the day, when he joined the Air Wing team of the Abu Dhabi Police.
Colonel Pilot Obaid Mohammed Al-Shemeli, deputy director of the Air Wing team, said making the young boy's wish a reality was a simple gesture that helped put a smile on his face.
"Before we met Issa, Abu Dhabi Police was keen to implement this humanitarian initiative."
"We are happy to help provide support for children who are suffering from critical medical conditions, and allow children to realise their dreams and draw a smiles on their faces."
He said such humanitarian gestures, which come in line with the 'Year of Giving,' provide hope for youngsters, especially if they are battling for their health.
"A simple gesture like this gave the young boy hope to complete his treatment journey."
The young Emirati boy received explanations from Colonel Mohammed Salem Al-Hamoudi, Director of the Air Operations Section, about his job for the day and how he can successfully perform the role as a captain pilot for one of the top police organisations in the world.
Tasks given to the boy include the functions of search and rescue, air ambulance management mechanisms, communicating with the air wing operations room, as well as how to give and receive communications and coordinate with the control tower at takeoff and landing.
Young Issa, who even received a medal from Abu Dhabi Police on his superb performance, said he was filled with happiness and excitement, and he particularly enjoyed flying over the Abu Dhabi corniche, adding that this experience will be one he will never forget.
