More than 120 new parking spaces have been built in Al Mina area of Abu Dhabi to solve parking woes for residents.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality said the new parking lots have been constructed by their infrastructure and assets sector in coordination with the Integrated Transport Department at a cost of Dh1.2 million.

The parking slots are located in the port area, Block 14 sectors C51 - C58.

“This project came in response to the residents' requests to provide them with adequate parking spaces in their residential neighbourhood,” said the municipality.

“The project is also within the framework of developing the infrastructure system and improving services that would enhance the quality of life of residents.”

The new parking spaces include 119 standard parking and nine parking spaces dedicated for People of Determination.

The engineers also installed approximately 4,396 square meters of tiles, installed 10 signboards, extended lighting network to the new parking slots and also installed nine LED lighting poles.

In addition, road works of approximately 1,302 meters were built and this involved the installation of curbstone tiles in space of about 840 meters.

Earlier this week, the municipality announced implementing another infrastructural project in the Old Bahia. The project included construction of 56 new parking spaces, and the establishment of an entrance and exit to the area to facilitate the movement of visitors to the club area.

Building new parking spaces in the Capital is part of the municipality’s endeavour to offer long-term solutions to resolve issues related to parking spaces and maintain the traffic flow. It also helps in decreasing illegal and random parking, enabling the optimal use of available parking spaces, shortening the search time for parking spaces, and accordingly, adding to the convenience of users.
