Abu Dhabi court grants woman 29 days to pay back Dh20 million

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has granted a GCC national- a woman, 29 days to resolve her dispute with the bank she works in.
She had misappropriated Dh 20 million and spent the amount on her boyfriend (second defendant) and his brothers.
The woman has already paid Dh15 million back to the bank as the authorities froze her account. The second defendant's two brothers (third and fourth defendants) repaid all the money they took to the authorities.  
The case was submitted in the court in June 2017 and the bank complained that the employee had used her authority and benefited illegally from her position. The money was spent on her boyfriend she was supposed to marry.  
According to Al Bayan's report published on Tuesday, the lead time given by the court aims at reaching a solution that both the parties, the bank and the woman agree upon. The bank revealed in the court that it had already recovered 75 per cent of the money.  
The court is adjourned for October 9.
