Abu Dhabi shuts down restaurant for posing risk to public health

Abu Dhabi authorities shut down a restaurant in the Capital after it violated food safety laws set in the emirate, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority announced on Monday.
The authority issued a decision to administratively close Cafe Anzuman Restaurant LLC after it violated Law No. (2) of 2008 regarding food in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and its associated legislation.
The restaurant also reportedly posed a significant risk to public health with certain of its practices.

On February 7, ADAFSA shut down Spicy Restaurant Tamil Nadu located on Hamdan St after it was found to have violated food safety regulations.
Authorities in the emirate have zero tolerance on offences that put residents' health and safety at risk. Inspections are regularly conducted across the emirate to ensure establishments' compliance with the safety standards.
In 2024, a number of dining outlets and eateries in the emirate were closed down for failing to comply with the emirate's regulations.
One eatery was shut over dirty refrigerators and other kitchen equipment while a burger cafe had to close its doors after three warnings for 'high-risk violations'.
Abu Dhabi has also launched a food safety rating app in the emirate for customers. The Zadna Rating app will provide information about food establishments across 9,000 venues in the capital city.
