The final tests of the Dar Al Ber Quran and Sunnah Award have seen a stiff competition with the participation of 450 contestants from 50 government and private schools.
Khalid Abdul Wahhab Al Khaja, manager of the Dar Al Ber Society, Ajman, said that 429 male and female students attended the final examinations held on May 1 - 4, in addition to 11 female and 10 male teachers and administrative staff.
The local contest consists of eight levels including a special section for kindergarten children in the popular award category for the second year in a row, he added.
Al Khajah said aspirant memorisers had a chance to compete in one of the two main branches of the contest: Quran or Sunnah. "Quran contestants had to perfectly memorise certain chapters, along with their meanings whereas Sunnah competitors needed to learn a number of Hadiths or prophetic sayings," he said.
Al Khajah said 624 students competed in the Quran category whereas 600 students competed in the Hadith category, apart from 50 teaching and administrative staff.
