Dubai Police nabbed three drug smugglers while seizing 3kg of heroin and 3,600 grams of amphetamine from them on May 4. The three Asian truck drivers were nabbed near Al Ghweifat border.

One of the gang members was allegedly coordinating with the kingpin of the drug racket.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, said the operation succeeded due to the promptness of the anti-narcotic officials, who swung into action as soon as they were tipped off. The team nabbed the accused while they were trying to cross the border.

Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Harib, director of the General Department of Anti- Narcotic Department at the Dubai Police, said that one of the gang members was receiving and following instructions from their big boss from outside the country.

Colonel Harib said that during the first radiation inspection of the truck of the first and second defendants, the police found the 3,600 grams of amphetamine hidden in plastic bags.

Later, X-ray scan was conducted on the truck and the police found heroin weighing 3kg hidden in bags in the driver's cabin.
