The Ajman Civil Defence authorities have carried out an awareness programme about the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak for 320 domestic maids, who are working in the emirate of Ajman.

They have been urged to comply with all precautionary measures related to SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19, and also fire safety norms of the households they are working for.

The move comes following a series of fire incidents that have recently occurred in several households due to negligence and lack of awareness such as failure to use extinguishers and other fire protection equipment.

Captain Ahmed Al Damarky, the Director of Civil Protection at Civil Defence in Ajman, said that the training was provided to 320 domestic maids virtually in the first phase.

All maids registered with Ajman authorities would receive the training in the phased manner, he added.

The training programme was made available to the maids in various languages to ensure their safety and other members of households, if a fire breaks out.

They were also trained about how to follow Covid-19 regulations and maintain good health amid the pandemic.
