23,910 families, 22 nations receive Adahi meat

Dar Al Ber Society has recently distributed Adahi or meat of sacrificed cattle, worth Dh3.8 million, to 23,910 poor and low-income families locally and abroad, according to a top official.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber Society, on Saturday said these included 2,565 Adahi, worth about Dh1.2 million, which were contributed to 5,130 local disadvantaged families.
"Thousands of Adahi, valued at Dh2.6 million were given to 18,780 deprived families abroad as well."
Official figures show that 1,247 Adahi were handed out in Dubai, against 500 in Ajman, 500 in Ras Al Khaimah and 318 in Fujairah.
"Eid clothes, valued at Dh200,000, were also contributed to 400 poor families at the Dar Al Ber Society branches all over the country," he added, noting that, "each and every family of these was given clothes worth Dh500."
Bin Zayed said Dar Al Ber Society has also distributed sacrificed cattle, worth over Dh2.6 million to 18,780 families abroad in collaboration with 50 charity entities in 22 countries.
"These spanned Palestine, Egypt, Sudan, Mauritania, Senegal, Ghana, China, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Ethiopia, Niger, India, and many other countries."
Adding, he said Eid clothes, valued at Dh150,000, were also contributed to deprived families abroad in association 54 entities in 34 countries.
Dar Al Ber, in cooperation with the bodies concerned, has also distributed a big number of publications, lectures, and CDs on the virtues of Haj, and the first ten days of the lunar month of Zul-Hijjah.
"The Activities and Events Department of Dar Al Ber Society has further distributed 10,000 CD copies on the 'Best days ever' lecture, 15,000 CD copies on the 'A day in Prophet's house' lecture, 3,000 CD copies on the 'How to perform Haj' lecture, let alone 5,000 copies of the 'Haj supplications' booklet, and 10,000 copies of the 'Travel rulings' pamphlet."
Earlier in September, Al Ber Society initiated its seasonal Adahi campaign for this year 1436H/2015 locally and abroad opening the door for contributions.
"The price of Adahi abroad has been set at Dh350 per piece against Dh550 for a local sheep whereas minimum Dh40 may be donated for the feast clothes, as instructed by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai," Bin Zayed explained. ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
