The Ajman Municipality has completed the installation of 210 solar lamps in various parks and other areas in the emirate.
The move is in order to protect the environment from industrial pollution resulting from the use of electricity. 
The project was implemented under the directives of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department.
The newly installed lampposts are located at the Flag park, Safia Park, Rashidiya, Ajman Corniche, among many others. The project reflects the trends of the federal government in its efforts to exploit renewable energy and also implements the vision of the Ajman Government towards sustainability.
Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi, director of the department of agriculture and public parks of the Ajman Municipality, said the alternate sources help achieve sustainable development and not affect the climate and can provide clean energy for future generations. "It protects the environment from harmful gases and other pollutants as well as industrial contaminants resulting from the use of electrical energy." 
Al Muhairi said the lampposts are designed to suit the environment of public parks and public squares. 
He said the department will periodically conduct maintenance services in order to operate efficiently for a longer period. The service is expected to increase the satisfaction the residents and instilling happiness while they are in a recreational atmosphere.
