A total of 16 prisoners repatriated from Al Sajaa Immigration Jail reached Karachi on Wednesday (April 10), thanks to the Consulate-General of Pakistan in Dubai.
They are among the 55 prisoners whose repatriation has been facilitated by the Pakistani Consulate.
Among the prisoners repatriated some of them had completed their jail terms and the others were confined in Al Sajaa Immigration Jail and Al Aweer Jail in Dubai.
The Consulate General issued necessary travel documents and also arranged air tickets through its Welfare Fund - from philanthropists of Pakistani community and the jail authorities. The rest of the prisoners will be going back to Pakistan next week.
"Majority of these people were involved in minor crimes, but did not have the necessary means to funds their travel back home," said a spokesperson.
