songThe show will take place on October 17th at the Aviation Club, Dubai.

“Somehow, it’s different when you perform for Filipinos abroad,” says Regine. “You know how much they miss hearing songs from home, and that makes it more meaningful, not just for them, but also for the artist.”

This concert in Dubai comes at an auspicious time in Regine’s life and career, following the big admission by Ogie Alcasid about the true status of their relationship.

In an exclusive interview with City Times, Regine assured her fans, that she couldn’t be better. “I thank everyone for understanding us and why we had to keep our relationship a secret. We had to do that because we felt that people weren’t ready to accept the truth about us, even if they’ve been hearing rumors about us for years,” she said. “It was a delicate matter, so the timing had to be right.”

Regine admits, “I’m happy, because now I don’t have to hide anything anymore. I just hope that now that it’s out in the open, people won’t start judging us.”

She has also become more vocal about her feelings for Ogie. Now, Regine isn’t shy anymore about declaring how she feels. “I love him too, and I’m very happy,” says Asia’s Songbird.

The positive vibes and happiness she feels has obviously spilled over to her career. In fact, there is talk that Regine is being tapped by GMA-7 to host the second season of Philippine Idol, which will reportedly premiere on GMA. Prior to this, Regine hosted GMA’s singing contest, Pinoy Pop Superstar.

Preparations for her Dubai show are going smoothly, and Regine is expected to pull out all the stops and give her Dubai-based kababayans a show they’ll never forget —complete with her trademark vocal calisthenics, of course.

Surely, she’ll also be singing love songs with more feeling this time, because of Ogie.

Meanwhile, Filipinos in Dubai are already feeling the excitement over Regine’s impending visit. Message boards have started to fill up with posts from Dubai-based Pinoys who will likely turn up in huge numbers to watch her.

The show, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez is mounted by CAC Events. In Dubai, online tickets are available through www.boxofficeme.com, www.timeoutdubai.com. Tickets are also now available at all outlets of Choithram, Tagpuan Restaurants and Proof Woody. For more information regarding the show you can call up 050-8761958 or 06-7469617/18.
