Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander in Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, oversaw the launching of the first licence plate number that's part of the "Classical" collection, at the second Al Murabba Heritage Festival being held in Al Ain. 
Of the plates revealed are "1918", which represents the year of birth of the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. "1948" on the other hand, represents the date of the Murabaa fortress's construction. "1957" is the year which Abu Dhabi Police was established as an entity. The plate "1971" denotes the founding year of the United Arab Emirates. The plate "2018" is honoured by being the Year of Zayed.
The launch comes in line with the Year of Zayed initiative of Abu Dhabi Police consolidating these years which are unforgettable for all sons and daughters of the UAE.
Brigadier General Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director of Central Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the initiative reflects the importance of the Murabaa Fortress in maintaining security and tranquillity for all citizens of this nation.
He added that 1948 was also the year that the Al Ain Police headquarters were established
The festival was successfully able to shine a light on the Abu Dhabi police's legacy, showing old police cars and photographs documenting the history of the organization.
