A 'Lost City' themed expansion adds 11 new rides and attractions

Miral has announced that its latest expansion of Yas Waterworld on Yas Island will officially open to guests on April 4, 2026, marking a significant addition to the capital’s growing leisure and tourism offerings.

The expansion represents the next phase of the park’s 'Lost City' theming, building on its signature narrative, The Legend of the Lost Pearl. The development introduces a range of new attractions, including eight slides, two jumping platforms, and a lounging pool, bringing the total number of experiences at the park to more than 70.

Jonathan Brown, Chief Portfolio Officer at Miral, described the expansion as a key milestone. “The expansion of Yas Waterworld marks an important step in our commitment to delivering world-class entertainment experiences on Yas Island,” he said. “With eleven new slides and attractions, we are enhancing the park’s offering with fresh thrills and immersive adventures for guests of all ages.”

Among the standout additions is Matamir’s Drop, set to become the UAE’s tallest waterslide, featuring a plunge from over 40 metres and a 233-metre slide run. Other highlights include Sahel Matamir, a free-fall tube racer designed to deliver bursts of speed and moments of zero gravity.

Thrill-seekers can also experience Matamir Loop, a high-speed body slide, while Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights combines sharp drops with immersive lighting effects. For competitive visitors, Matamir Splash offers a side-by-side duelling mat racer experience.

Beyond high-adrenaline rides, the expansion introduces family-friendly and relaxation-focused attractions. Sarab, a spacious leisure pool, provides a calm environment for visitors, while Al Afda features a jump platform allowing guests to leap into the water below.

The expansion reflects ongoing efforts to position Yas Island as a leading global destination for entertainment and leisure, as Abu Dhabi continues to strengthen its appeal as an international tourism hub.

With its blend of adventure, storytelling, and innovation, the latest additions mark a new chapter in Yas Waterworld’s evolution, offering visitors an even wider range of experiences.
