Nomad is designed as an off-grid retreat that prioritises nature, privacy and minimal intervention

Sharjah will open its newest eco-luxury hospitality destination, Nomad, in Kalba on December 31. Developed and managed by Sharjah Collection, the destination has entered its final operational readiness phase. Nomad is designed as an off-grid retreat that prioritises nature, privacy and minimal intervention, offering an alternative to conventional urban hospitality experiences in the UAE.
Set within Kalba’s mountainous landscape, Nomad comprises 20 eco-luxury accommodation trailers. The architectural approach relies on natural materials and a hybrid energy system incorporating solar power, reinforcing the destination’s off-grid model and its "emphasis on reducing social media dependency".
Built locally, the units operate with a no-Wi-Fi, lights-off approach to encourage digital disconnection, protect night-sky visibility and allow guests to disconnect from routine — an experience that remains rare within the UAE's hospitality landscape.

The destination follows a low-density development model, with accommodation units distributed across the terrain to respect natural contours and limit physical intervention. Circulation routes are designed to ensure the landscape itself remains central to the guest experience.

Nomad is supported by outdoor infrastructure including 7.44km of mountain hiking trails and 4.39km of dedicated mountain biking trails. Optional experiences include birdwatching, outdoor yoga and guided stargazing, aligned with the natural rhythms of the site.
Ahead of the opening, Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), conducted an inspection visit to the site. During the visit, she assessed the project's alignment with the principles of slow travel and conscious exploration that inform Nomad's positioning and was briefed on its sustainability framework, operational preparedness and overall guest journey.
