The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced a four-day holiday for Eid Al Adha for the private and public sectors.
The holiday of Eid Al Adha will begin on the 9th of the Zul Hijjah and last until the 12th.
The UAE on Thursday, announced that the Day of Arafat will be on August 10, while Eid Al Adha will be on Sunday, August 11.
There's still fun to be had by going around to nearby places. These destinations will thrill you. And what's more, they can be reached by a vehicle. So, unleash your adventure streak.

Salalah, Oman

If you think the Middle East abound with deserts and deserts, then you haven't been to Salalah. This Omani city near the Arabian Sea becomes forested and turns into a green landscape during the Khareef or annual monsoon.

Venture deep into Sharjah and you'll find Mleiha. This region is home to the famous Fossil Rock formation as well as the Mleiha Archaeological Centre which is dotted by many tombs dating back to 2500 - 2000BC.

Al Qudra Lake, Dubai

Al Qudra Lake is just inside Dubai, so it's a quick drive. The man-made lake is home to many species of birds and boasts a view of the sunset that is unrivalled around Dubai.

Dibba, Fujairah

Bordering Oman and the UAE, Dibba is a fascinating site to behold located between Oman and the UAE. This area is marked by its magnificent coastlines and lush, blue waters.

Jebel Hafeet or Jebel Jais

Why wouldn't you go to either Jebel Hafeet or Jebel Jais? Both are popular mountains in the UAE and is a great spot to get an all-encompassing view of the city below. There's also Al Ain Zoo below Jebel Hafeet - another worthwhile stop in Al Ain.

Bonus: Liwa Oasis, Abu Dhabi



It's a long drive - an insanely long drive, but a visit to Liwa is a must. Especially if you haven't been to the Empty Quarter at least once in your UAE expat lifetime.
