The eight-metre-wide, single-lane road is almost ready, said Salem Al Maksah, Director of the Department of Public Works and Agriculture of the Fujairah Government. “This road is very important for public safety.”

The road is being relaid on the directives of His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, so that the heavy trucks going to and from the 20-odd quarries in Seiji, 40km from downtown, can use it, instead of the main road.

“The newly laid road will reduce the pressure on the road being in use by truckers now and shall take truck traffic away from the residential areas,” he noted.

On renovating Al Mussalah Street, Al Maksah said: “A company specialising in the field has carried out a project to give a facelift to the street in Fujairah City by adopting a modern and eco-friendly technique.

“Al Mussalah Street is one of several internal streets the Department of Public Works and Agriculture is planning to overhaul to keep pace with the economic and urban boom the emirate is witnessing right now.”
