The expansion work on the road, that has cost a total of Dh11.3 million, has just been completed as part of the roads development project, being carried out by the SDPW. The project under the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aims at enhancing the infrastructure and ensuring high quality standard of life for its residents.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Engineer Suleiman Al Hajri, Director of Road Projects at the SDPW, said the street extends from intersection 5 in Sharjah-Al Dhaid to the square located after Al Badee Musalla and Al Nouf and Houshi areas. The expansion work on the road includes addition of two new lanes in both directions with a 4km median as a green patch to divide the directions of the road.

The road has now become two-way with paved shoulders and bus stops constructed in both the sides. In coordination with the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) the street will be equipped with lights to be installed on the median. Al Hajri noted that the expansion work of this street, which started in June 2011, has been completed on schedule.

He urged the public to communicate with the SDPW through their toll free number: 80086767 for suggestions and complaints about roads and traffic issues.
