The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities on Saturday announced the opening of a 1.66-km-long stretch on the 10th street. The expansion marks the first phase of master development plans of Al Zahiyah project, which aims to ease traffic congestion in the area and provide better facilities to the residents.
The department, along with strategic partners Abu Dhabi General Services Company - Musanada and other relevant bodies, had started the work in January 2017.
The redesign and expansion covers the stretch from Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi Mall, Le Meridien to the Mina Street. The street is a significant component of the development of Al Zahiyah - the Tourist Club Area, the municipality said.
The project underscores the keenness of the department, and its partners to upgrade the infrastructure.
The development work also includes upgrading street lighting in the area and providing pedestrian paths.
