The Roads and Transport Authority and Ministry of the Interior will set up a joint committee to visit traffic authorities across GCC countries, to unify the collection of fines.

At a recent meeting between the two bodies, RTA chairman Mattar Al Tater agreed his organisation would provide Salik and parking cards at petrol stations near the border posts of the UAE, as well as run an awareness campaign on the toll gate system for drivers from GCC countries.

The meeting also covered the collection of fines from passenger transport and school transport illegal practices, reviewed the progress of the Federal Traffic System and a programme to identify faults from heavy trucks.
